Bald Top Update:

Carolyn DraganoBald Top Road, News

Preliminary readings from inclinometers on Bald Top road show a cumulative movement of 3/100th of an inch with depths varying greater than 20 feet. Because this information is so preliminary it is as yet inconclusive, the total of the readings planned being scheduled for three months.

The Township is incurring costs in excess of $6,000 per month for the monitoring, which will ultimately provide insight towards rebuild design requirements; for example, based on the cumulative result, it may be possible to utilize a geo matting rather than soil nailing, at a significant savings.

At the same time, progress continues on the design of the water drainage system for the roadway, which is planned to be installed this year, in preparation for the road rebuild in the spring.
